Environmental medicine deals with health effects originated from occupational and environmental conditions. Occupational medicine promotes worker’s health by enhancing diagnostic techniques and treats the work environment-related diseases and concerns about compensation and rehabilitation. Moreover, occupational medicine covers preventive strategies for occupation related illness. Environmental medicine deals with a study that conducts research about environmental risk factors. In addition, it addresses diagnosis and treatment of health obstacles that may be caused by risk factors contained in the environment we live in.
The Department of Environmental Medicine was separated from the Department of Preventive Medicine and established in March, 2016. Through the interdisciplinary curriculum between the basic medicine and the clinical medicine, our educational goals are to nurture occupational and environmental medicine specialists who have ability to absorb interdisciplinary studies. In addition, another goals are to raise the future generations by educating full time postgraduate students.
The Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine provides the educational programs for undergraduates and graduates focused on the environmental and occupational health courses. The occupational and environmental medicine program for undergraduates provides the lectures concerning the occupational and environmental medicine. The graduate school provides programs of the environmental epidemiology, social epidemiology in master’s program, ph.D program, combined master’s and doctoral course, and postdoctoral program. Our faculties foster the occupational and environmental medicine specialists through the comprehensive and balanced courses by integrating of basic medicine and clinical medicine, clinical training, and community occupational health project.
